Bumperettes
Hi all -
I know that there have been many threads on this subject, and there's no need to recount all of them. I just can't get my head around paying $400+ for a set of Abarth bumperettes... especially when I only want a front pair (leaving the rear bar intact).
So - I'm working out how to take a pair of rear bumperettes from a Porsche 911 that I picked up for $50 new, and attach them to the front bumper shock mounts (that have been collapsed a little).
I'll post some photos when I've done it - but initial testing looks fairly ok....
Andy
Update: Here are some (very bad) photos of them attached with tape. Proper mountings shortly.
And fiddling with the color balance so it's a *little* clearer

I like 'em too. Their shape complements the front of the car nicely. I think I like them better than the actual Abarth style.

Re: Bumperettes
If memory serves me correctly, they're a 2004 Boxster replacement...
Part #s 986 505 426 and 986 505 425
... which I think means they're from a 986
A quick look on ebay - and these look the right ones....

$75.... so only a little more than I got mine for.

No, Brad is a purest and I respect him for that. He's a bright guy.toplessexpat wrote:Have you been on the Hot Sauce?bradartigue wrote:Hey your car is missing the front bumper, maybe the back too, you should check.
IMO though if we were talking about the Dino owned by PinninF I'd agree with him.
A 124 that was produced in the hundreds of thousands though? Not so much.

Re: Bumperettes
Got it - nope. I live in Texas, I value the additional protection afforded to my rear end that the stock bar gives (and that might be a perceived protection rather than actual!). Plus I like to think that perhaps the slightly extra weight on the back end gets the power down better!SoFlaFiat wrote:Those look great Andy!! Have you done the back as well?
I wasn't in *any* way dismissing Brad's comment! Far from it - his reference material is a "go to" for me..No, Brad is a purest and I respect him for that. He's a bright guy.

Hey toplessexpat
How did you you make out with the Boxster bumpers? I'm considering this as well and am curious if you were able to make it work?
