850 spider speedometer
850 spider speedometer
Will the 120 speedo from the 850 swap into our 124 dash. They look the same, anybody know? Same cable etc? I hate my 85mph one. It reminds me of my 80s motorcycles pegged going into 3rd gear.

My 85r is pegged all the time, I do a lot of hwy driving. I'm looking for a decent 140 but I'm seeing a lot of clean 120s from the 850 for pretty cheap. Just curious if its the same fit.

It will physically fit (I have one in my '71), but the 850 uses a screw-on connection to the cable, while the Spider 2000 has a clip-on type connection. Earlier Spider had screw-on connection, but those cables are shorter, as the go through the transmission tunnel, while on the Spider 2000 it goes through the firewall.

Now I'm thinking about getting the 220 kph speedo. This is my for-fun car anyway. Then if I get harassed for only lap belts I'l point at the euro-speedo and say "The imported ones only came with lap belts."

I used many with the clip-on over the screw-on and found they held. Maybe I also wire-tied over them, it's been a decade or so.vandor wrote:It will physically fit (I have one in my '71), but the 850 uses a screw-on connection to the cable, while the Spider 2000 has a clip-on type connection. I did that for a while and hated it. It just looks too busy with so many more numbers on the speedo.paintdudeluke wrote:Now I'm thinking about getting the 220 kph speedo.
Even tho I know what is th corresponding mph, it was a pain to have to think about it all the time.
After reading Brad's post it looks like you may be able to use the 850 speedo after all.

Something like this works - beware this one in particular as it is a scan from a picture taken in 2002 (the guy has the date/time stamp on it). Probably spent 11 years in a box.
