Hello from PNW.

Post by shogun »

Hello everyone. I just got myself an old Fiat 124 sport coupe. I believe its a 71. Its been a few weeks since ive actually looked at it, but im super excited to get this thing road worthy. I basically got interested in fiat's because of a friend. He's an older gentleman from Italy. He is always talking crap about Japanese cars and American cars. Anyway after knowing him for some time, the stupid little Italian wore off on me. I saw a car on his property one day and asked about it. Anyway, I did a little research and told him I wanted it. I told him about all the research I did on Fiats and basically educated myself with the internet. He was surprised and knowing how I feel about old classics(be it foreign or domestic) he just gave me the car. Im currently trying to swindle him out of a fiat dino that is rusted out. The motor and trans has been stored inside though. I pretty much think he will give it to me for a decent price. If it works out ill put the dino engine in my little coupe. So that's pretty much why I joined the site. Plus this seemed to be the most complete fiat site. Not to mention the first one at the top of the google fiat forum search. hahah. So...Nice to meet everyone! Ill post some pics up later. Cant seem to figure it out right now. Plus the Daytona 500 is on. Nice to see the #3 back.

She will be stored inside as soon as I get a timing belt. Since she's been sitting for about 10 years. Im not going to risk snapping the belt.

looks like you found these up on the Mackenzie river or such places. This means RUST. So, before you get too deep in these cars, you better get under them and see how the shock towers look, frame connections to the anti-sway bar and other suspension contact places. If it has been sitting for 10 years outside in a field, you have some due diligence to do.

Cool. A "rusted out" Dino is likely worth saving if it isn't totally gone. They have been creeping up in value from what I've seen.
