New Member from Sierra Vista, Arizona
Hello, I am joining because as of October 2013 I now own a 1980 Spider and I have found this site to be extremely useful when working on it. I am also joining in place of joelbert2k whom some of you may or may not know and is my grandfather. The Spider that I received was given to me by him after his retirement. Since his retirement he has been travelling the country in his RV and since I needed a car he gave me the Spider that I have always wanted since he first acquired it. The car may be older than I myself seeing as I am only turning 18 this year but I fully intend to work on it and hopefully restore it as well. I will take part in the community as much as I can between school plus other tasks at hand and I also wish to say goodbye on behalf of my grandfather whom will not be on here as much due to being retired.

Glad to have another member in Arizona - welcome! It's great to learn that you're carrying on the "care and feeding" of a great car. Best wishes to your grandfather and we're looking forward to seeing you on the forum.

Welcome to our little online Fiat haven... The humor is dry, the beer is intermittent and the people are pretty good, most of the time. Just watch out for Csaba, he'll empty your wallet if you aren't careful on his website.
Sierra Vista, though... I may be moving out there for work, provided all the cards line up. The boss asked if I'd be interested in going out to Huachuca in a few months, so there may be another Fiat in that part of the desert.

Ask him which months. If it is July, August, and September, hit him up for hazard payThe boss asked if I'd be interested in going out to Huachuca

It would be nice to see another Fiat out here. I've only seen one other lately and is just sitting in a parking lot for sale. If you do end up out here just beware that we have had a lot of fires in recent years and there is one going on now actually.darksider415 wrote:Welcome to our little online Fiat haven... I never did say goodbye to you all, but then I didn't really leave. I still lurk around here a bit, although it seems to be longer than I realized. I know I left my Spider in good hands, and he lets me drive it when I'm home.TKinney96 wrote:Hello, I am joining because as of October 2013 I now own a 1980 Spider and I have found this site to be extremely useful when working on it. I have not left the Fiat fold however as I needed a small car to tow behind the motorhome and what could be better than a 2013 Abarth? Now I just need to read more on the New Fiat section.

What a touching story, a grandfather handing off the reigns to his grandson. It's rare that an 18 yr old shows interest in these types of cars and he will show even more interest in his new aquisition since he has you as a guide. I enjoy reading about some of our members who have a history with the same car since the 70s or 80s. Hopefully your grandson keeps the car in the family and he can boast a similar history in time to come. Have fun with your little Abarth, those little thingies are intriguing.
