Another April Fool! 78 Spider - Seattle

Post by Olaf »

Hey, I'm the new owner of a 1978 Fiat 124 Spider!

I bought her on April Fool's Day and ... well actually it turns out there was a lien on the title and the Previous Owner / Seller still owns the car technically... or maybe the state of Washington...? Anyway, should all be resolved by tomorrow and hopefully that's the only Fool's Joke I enjoy.

The car is in fairly good shape, lots of little things to do. Would love some advice here in the Seattle area, and eventually some driving buddies! (she runs now, but I'm not confident of for how long/well.

Anyway, this site was very helpful in deciding to buy, I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions as I begin my mild resto.

Er... image is slightly photoshopped to make her look less dirty!

Hello and welcome. There are several folks in the Seattle area that im sure would like someone to cruise with. Good luck with your new ride.

PS A good wash job would eliminate the need to photoshop your car :D

Welcome to the forum. I'm down south by Wild Waves, almost to Milton.
Here is a link to the local club, Fiat Enthusiasts Northwest. There are meetings in Renton, Tacoma and Shoreline. They also have a Facebook page. I plan on joining some day.
The 8th Annual All Italian Car show is at the XXX in Issaquah on April 20th. I plan on going and I may take my car.

Here are the pics of your car I pulled from the Craigslist ad. It looks real nice.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

The pic I took is after a long, thorough wash. I've done two more and a wax... this thing sat in a messy garage for quite a while. I may simply not know enough about washing cars, but it seems like more washing doesn't get it cleaner...

There's enough rough bits on the paint and there's the rear quarter to replace. After that I'll prolly repaint.

I don't think there's any way I can have her reliable enough to get to Issaquah by the 20th, but you never know!

[ :-)> Hi, I just bought a 1978 Spider 1800 a couple days ago. Like you I am a newbie but dedicated. You see my wife is Italian.
I am also in Great Northwest. Just over state line between Idaho and Wa. I'm about 25 minute drive from Spokane. May meet one day, who knows. I looking for a Fiat club in Spokane.

Hi, I think I saw that car on Craigslist - it looked good!

I have been enjoying electrical and small mechanical issues from the off, I've kinda mostly got it sorted, I think. But hit me if you need any advice. There is a car club called Northwest Fiat:

I just missed the last meeting it seems (had to work) but there's another one each month if you happen to have other business near Seattle!
