I use Ron's method; a tube with a funnel at the end that runs down through the engine compartment to the tranny and into the fill hole. Since I don't have a willing assistant (ie. a son at home) I pour in the estimated amount needed, and check for a small trickle of oil streaming from the hole to indictae its full.

I bought a cheap siphon pump from Harbor Freight(I'm sorry Mike and I promise to never go in there again). One end in the bottle ,the other in the top of the tranny.VOILA! Unassisted ,mess-free tranny oil change.Works on rear end dope also.

I've thought about doing it that way Craig, but I always assumed the lube would be too thick to use a siphon or a plastic pump. Yours worked OK huh?

Ron ,it worked just fine .I bought the pump that looks like a small basketball pump ,it was around $6.00. I wasnt sure if it would work w/ thick lube either but no problem.

just don't try it on a real cold day unless you warm the oil first

Tipping your car on it's side sounds funny, but...

I was talking with a guy that's retoring a classic Mini. I asked if he was using a rotisserie, and he said "No, I just use a matress!". By himself, he just rolls the Mini body on it's side, onto a mattress, so he can refinish the bottom of the car.
