From Alberta, Canada restoring a 1969 fiat 124 spider

Post by 1969projectspider »

Hey Guys, im new to the forum as are all who post here. I am in the process of restoring a 1969 fiat 124 sport spider that was actually the reason i was born. My folks met over the sale of this exact car (same color combo, year etc.) anyhow i finally found this car with all the same specs and i am restoring it to give it to them for their upcoming 33rd anniversary in August. Wish me luck, and hope to learn a lot about this beautiful car. Cheers

Wow, what a great idea!! Welcome to the forum. The resources you're going to find here are simply fantastic. I don't think you will find any issue with your project that someone on here has not faced and will happily share their "fix".
There are a few other Albertans here, and I'm sure Chris (Narfire) will chime in with specifics of the guys in Edmonton (Ital Motors, I think) who he has used as a parts source.

Yeah. Fred at Ital Motors is a great source and a wonderful bloke, but a tad pricey. Check out the suppliers on the websites out of the States. Even with the cost of shipping, they tend to be less expensive.

Where in AB are you?

Hey guys, thank you for all the welcoming responses and greetings. I am in Edmonton here as well, however i'm from B.C and that is where the car is headed to. Nanaimo to be exact. I've got 3 short months to get her done and lots to do. i have dealt with Fred at Ital motors before when i had needed parts for my ferrari 348 and he seemed pretty good but as mentioned expensive.

I have found a few US sites that i think i am going to try (vicks auto) and (Auto Ricambri) and i will post reviews for you guys on how well they worked out, unless anybody has had a bad interaction with either of them, it would be greatly appreciated to hear before hand. Thanks again for all your input

P.S will post pictures shortly. Cheers

It'll be great to have another Spider on the Island - there's not many here now. We might have to try and schedule an "Island Meet".
I sent you an e-mail re parts suppliers.

Well, if you need a hand with anything, let me know.

Mine's an '81 FI, but there quite a few areas that are common to all models that I might be able to assist with. :)
