hazard switch question

Post by TulsaSpider »

so the other today I noticed that my radio wasn't working in my hazard switch wasn't working. I believe it should get power when the key is hot and power all the time on separate leads I saw on the wiring diagram where there is two wires leading in that look like power wires 1 is purple one is light blue and white can someone tell me which one should have constant power and where the power comes from. I also noticed there is no terminal coming of my fuse box that has constant power that's doesn't seem right either.

what year. I think traditionally you should have a 25a fuse that is always on. I know they have changed that with the newer cars. My fan runs when the car is off, so that is a possible fused source.

Yes I have this. I just really don't know how to read it. How do you tell if a wire has constant power or switched power from this type of schematic? I need to know which wire is supposed to be hit all the time.

Looking at the Artigue wiring diagrams for the 1978 it appears that the hazard switch gets power from fuse 10 on a violet wire (page 7). Fuse 10 is provided unswitched power from the alternator stud on page 5 (black wire).

The radio harness does not show any unswitched power (although the power antenna connector does). It gets switched power on the brown wire (page 5).

Hopefully this is of some help.

Ok thanks my violet wire only has power when the key is on. My radio is/was plumbed into a constant power source
