Hi,
I tested everything today with the amp and sub sitting in the trunk: The Sony iPod dash receiver drives the Polk speakers in the kick panels and the rear line outs feed the Dual amp that powers the 6" Bazooka that fits and will live on the floor behind the passenger seat.
I want to mount the amp under the rear "seat" or on the passenger floor: Where do I get 25amps, + ?
I'm thinking drill a hole two inches to the right of the Big Green Cable and run some 12gauge with grommets and SiO2; is it that simple?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, all of it open-box or eBay, except the amp, which are cheap.
It works pretty much as I expected.
How did you get the wire into the passenger compartment?
Thanks,
Mark

Pouring rain here today, so I'll have to wait to do it, but I see what you're talking about.
Turns out my '78's passenger footwell has the Cat hump, but the amp fits perfectly in the well behind the driver (retractor hit the dump when I replaced the seatbelts as job 1), no restriction of seat movement whatever.
Thanks Joe!
Mark

Was heading down this same path.....then wondered - if my amp is powered directly from the battery, won't it always be on, hot, and draining the battery? Bought the Clarion XC 1410 and plumbed all wires to the right places.....except power. Welcome thoughts.

most amps have a relay built into them. Your head unit will have "amp power" or similar wire that is used to activate the amp relay.
End result is that the amp only draws power when the head unit is on.

Did more reading on the "blue wire" from amp. Thought it had to go to a similar wire on radio. Turns out if the blue wire goes to any switched power the amp wont come on without power on. Whew. Felt dumb.

Re: Positive Source for Audio Amplifier
while that is true ... blue wire to any switched power and the amp will be on all the time that the car is on .... if you have the radio on every second you drive the car I guess it would not matter ... but ... blue wire to the radio is the best option ... I would have to do some research myself but not sure of the voltage going thru the blue wire is as much as switched power would give.... as burgundy stated it is just a "signal wire" to the amp to tell it to turn on ... it is not the actual power for the amp ...supplyguy wrote:Did more reading on the "blue wire" from amp. Re: Positive Source for Audio Amplifier
Spidermatt - Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I think I used "Switched power" incorrectly. Anyway, the radio has a yellow wire for power antennae, and in the instructions even said that wire could be used to hook up with the blue wire for amps! I'm golden. Now I just have to put it all back together and hope nothing bursts into flames - always my litmus test for successful electrical work. Appreciate the help.
