Hello everyone! I recently bought a 1979 Spider and will shortly begin the restoration process. I'm just finishing up my third year of college in Nashville and will be headed back to NC soon, with the goal of getting the car running reliably enough to make the trip back to Nashville in August or September.
Here she is:
I'll be able to post more pictures once I return to North Carolina. One question, is that black and tan interior common? Most of what I've seen seems to be either all black or all tan. Seeing as I'll need to change the door panels and get the seats reupholstered, as well as replacing the upper center console, do you guys think I should go all black to match the dash, or keep the two colored look?

Welcome aboard! You will find plenty of knowledgeable and friendly people here. The interiors get renovated over the years so much on these cars that anything is normal. But the tan is quite common, probably the most common interior color. It really is your choice what you do with it, I dyed mine from all tan to grey and black; it really comes down to what you like!

Welcome. I am just south of Greensboro in Salisbury.
The later cars commonly came with door panels that were tan lower with the black along the top. I have had '80 and '83 parts Spiders like that, and my "82 is also like that. My '78 had all tan but in a darker shade.

Another one of us in Nashville! Sweet! (Though, my Spider is currently hiding in a friend's back yard, waiting on me to pick up a 131 transmission. Long story.)cegguitarist wrote:Hello everyone! Beautiful car, though. Absolutely stunning.

That ride looks sweet -- especially with the hard top and BBS wheels.
Congrats on the purchase and good luck in school!

Actually, I don't think they are BBS wheels. I thought they were at first, but upon closer inspection, the center caps on the front say "Carol Shelby Wheels." From what I've found on the internet, they make aftermarket wheels for Mustangs. Apparently these were popular for small sports cars like this.
One thing is that they are 4x100, not 4x98, and I'm not sure why they fit on the car.
