door hinge repair

i am going to attempt to rebuild the hinge area of my drivers door. i'm going to gently cut my way in and then mig weld my way back out. i will be fabricating 3/16" steel plates to which i'm going to weld the brackets that hold the floating nut piece to the backside, then place them in the old locations and mig weld them in. then weld the pieces back that i cut out and grind them smooth. wish me luck. i will try to post enough pictures so everybody can have an idea of what i'm talking about

Good luck. That doesn't look like a very fun task. You can do it!!!

luckily, most of the area where i have to cut will be hidden once the doors are back together. i feel like such a used car dealer! HA HA
