Just changed my starter, working great.
I took it for the first drive after changing the tarter. Now the speedometer isn't working. The needle doesn't move at all and the odometer is not working as well.
Broken cable?

Re: Changed starter speedometer quit working
Since it is a 79' my first guess would be to check the plastick clip behind the speedometer that hooks the cable to the speedo unit. These clips are not real sturdy and are likely to pull off the back of the speedo with a little bump or tug. At one point I had to use a hose clip as a replacement to hold the cable on until a replacement came in the mail. I ordered two cables since they are not real expensive. You may have bumped the cable when doing the acrobatics required to do the starter change out. In any event, It is not a difficult job to install one of these. Install the new cable attached to the speedo side first so you have some cable to work with. Almost impossible for a guy with big hands to attach the cable properly if you install the transmission side first.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!
