Hello,
I've been an avid reader of the forum for the last few months as I geared up to buy my first spider. My uncle has owned maybe a half dozen over the last 30 years and after he let me drive his 1979 Spider, i got the bug.
I am now the proud owner of a 1979 Spider (California Model). I bought it in California and drove it north last month to Oregon. Got it to pass DEQ last week and now i'm chasing every weekend to make it just a little better than it was before.
I hope to contribute some of my repairs and fixes along the way to maybe help some other wayward owner.
Stephen

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm located in west Portland near Cornelius Pass Rd. I spent 5 years in Corvallis like some other folks. The wife and I'd love to move back.
This is her overheated in front of DEQ. I passed then promptly broke down 20 feet out of their driveway. No harm done.
The car needs a bit of cosmetic work, but it drives great. Interesting thing i found out about this car, it used to be blue. Whoever painted it did so when it was nearly new because much of the paint is faded now and they did a good job because even under the door upholstery, in the engine compartment, under the rubber and interior it is red. The one spot they missed was in the trunk which is all blue right up to the lip of the opening. My uncle hypothesized maybe the dealer repainted it upon customer request. Who knows. I cant get any title info on it to determine what color it was when i left the factory.

Re: Glad to Join you all
Check for a sticker on the underside of the trunk lid. That's where the paint colour/code normally is.
