Hey gang. New to this forum-just bought my sister's 1982 Spider 2000 first (her first car at 16y/o back in 1985) from my mom- kept it in the family all theses years and now it's mine. My dad had most stuff reworked about 4 years ago, but it's been barely driven since then and now, I'm finding fuse 8 keeps blowing, which is why the left front parking light and rear right taillight as well as dash lights aren't working. Apparently, that one little 8amp fuse covers a lot of stuff. I put a 16amp one in it just to see if those things worked and that one blew too. I was going to find a mechanic here in OKC (and advice or recommendation on that is appreciated) but I figured I'd check this forum first. Thanks!
P.S. My dad bought a 1984 & 1/2 Spider 3 months after they bought the '82 for my sister. That car was awesome with slightly redone center dash and A/C that needed a lot of TLC. Cool sailboat trunk emblem and Pininfarina hood emblem. Leather instead of vinyl-Too bad he sold that one about 10 years ago and I wasn't able to buy it back then.

Learned a long time ago not to do that: fuse for the headlights went out in a Ford Escort I had; it was 9:00 pm so I replaced it with the A/C fuse at twice the amp rating, drove two miles before smoke started coming from the dash. In short, had to replace the wiring harness. Moral, when a fuse blows something is wrong.

You might inspect the right License Plate light wires in the trunk. There is a plastic insulating thing that covers the connection and they sometimes get left off. This allows the wires to short to the body.
