I posted my problem on my retoration thread, but thought this might be a better place for the issue.
Ok I put the dash back together and went to connect the battery and the horn goes off. When I disconnect the horn there is still a clicking noise comming from the dash. I checked my emergency flasher and it is connected correctly, according to the electrical diagram. I thought it may be the clock or the courtesy light but I disconnected them one at a time and the same thing happens the horn goes off (you can the photo here ( http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... a&start=15 ).
Some thoughts are it might be in the column switch? Would mixing up the wires on the def/fan swictch cause this? Can anyone help this is the last hurdle to getting him on the road.
Thanks Pesto

Re: What went wrong?
Pesto,
Is your horn on a relay? Sounds like you have pos and neg switched somewhere and the clicking my be coming from the relay trying to engage?
I might be off but relays do make a loud click when they are triggered. If you have the trigger wire lose, it may cause a continued clicking sound.
As always, clean all the ground connections very well! 100% of spider owners will agree that 90% of electrical issues with our cars are caused by a bad ground.

Re: What went wrong?
Most likely it is something to do with the column switch or the horn button assembly.

Re: What went wrong?
First you could have more than one problem causing the symptom. So I would focus on one at a time. I believe your horn button supplies a ground to energize a relay that powers the horn. Could the clicking be that relay?? How did you disconnect the horn for your test.
I think the battery charge light indicator uses a relay as do the windshield wipers.
It might help if you could tell what is making the clicking sound.
Could someone assist you and connect the batter while you look for the sound. I

Re: What went wrong?
Update: electrical problem solved. Thanks Csaba and SoFlaFiat.
It was the horns lead, fixed and know everything works no more clicking noise. Next time I am definitly going to take pictures of everything. Thanks again for all the help, I should be on the road today after an oil change, sending unit replacement, timing and carb adjustment. Tommorrow I try to tackle putting on the new top, but I just might wait on that and have a pro do it, plus I don't have a rivet gun.
