Original Paint Colors
I am restoring a Blue 1970 Fiat Spider and looking to find the original color so I can chose the paint (or close) correctly. Is there a good spot to find this?

If the manufacturers plate is still there, it will list a paint code. probably a 2 digit number.

Re: Original Paint Colors
There was no paint code on my car. So to get the orginal color or as close to as possible I took off the fuel cover and took it to an automotive paint store. They will take a picture/slide with a special camera and then put it into a computer wich came up with a code and this gives them a formula to mix the paint. They made me a rattle can and I redid the inside of my trunk. I would think if you are having your whole car done then call a few auto paint shops and they will have a solution.

Re: Original Paint Colors
I have a paint chip book but it's dated 1980. Some of the colors look like early colors to me so maybe fiat used the same colors for many years. Does anyone know?

The paint code is a 3-digit number (not 2), & can be found stamped along the bottom of the alloy chassis ID tag that is mounted in the engine bay (on the upper cowling crossmember, next to the hood latch). It looks like this (top one shown):miktracy wrote:I am restoring a Blue 1970 Fiat Spider and looking to find the original color so I can chose the paint (or close) correctly.
