Can Column Switch be repaired?

Okay, my next project is fixing the wiper and turn signal switches on my 1979 Spider. I was able to remove column switch from car, but can't get it apart. There seem to be 2 white tabs that you compress and then can pull apart, but I'm guessing at this point and don't want to break it.
(If I could figure how, I'd post a pic here). Has anyone been able to pull apart without breaking and repair?

Use a small flathead screw driver and gently pry the tabs so you can un-connect. Careful as the plastic becomes very brittle. If it will not come apart you can make a new connector easy enough.
