4 Black wires to the heater lever console?

Are these fiber optic wires to light up the labels for defroster, heat, etc ? And where do they get their light source from? Mine don't light up.

yes they are, they should come from somewhere near the cigar lighter from memory, they usually don't work very well...

The clear plastic holders that retain the ends of them for the heating indicators are unbelievably delicate! Beware. I broke one by just looking at it when the console came out. They are attached to the backside of the console. Gooped up the broken one to hold the FO end. I didn't try to find one, but I bet they are made of unobtanium. I will say though, that when you do get them working, it is very cool at night. 8)

Thanks for the quick replies. You're right about the fragile white clips that hold the fo cables to the plastic indicators. I have one missing and will probably find a way to glue it in. According to the original manual they're called "ideogram illumination optical fiber light source" It takes a 12V-5W Norm. 1/08630/90 bulb (Fiat Part #) with no SAE Standard bulb listed. Wish I could up the wattage because they only give you a white dot and they don't really light up the heater/defrost indicators very well so you can read them.

Does anyone know the SAE equivalent bulb with a slightly higher wattage to light it up better?

Mine went MIA following my interior make-over. I just shrugged at the time but one day I'd like to get them hooked up again. Anybody have a creative solution?

I think the clips are clear plastic, do the 3D printers work with clear materials?

One of the drawbacks to buying some of the replacement covers for the heating/cooling levers is that the new cover does not have the lighting clips on the underside. It really stinks when you have the fiber optic cables lit and sitting in the center console under the new cover. Seems like a small thing to build the new covers properly so they have lighting attachments for the fiber optics. Maybe I'm ordering from the wrong supplier. Anyone else have this issue?
