I recently had my gas tank restored. It was a good thing to do and now the fuel pump is quiet and the fuel system works great.
But the fuel gage no longer works. I replaced the sending unit before having the tank refusrbished, but so far as I can see there is no power or signal to the gage. the sending unit reads 0-300 ohms when the arm is moved.
Any idea where to start trouble shooting the fuel gage electrical system?
I'm stumped

the sending unit grounds thru the tank. If the tank has been freshly painted, you've probably lost your grounds.
Fuel Gage problem
Thanks for the help!! You were right, there was no ground because of the new tank coating. Cleaned it off a tank bolt and presto!azruss wrote:the sending unit grounds thru the tank. If the tank has been freshly painted, you've probably lost your grounds.
Thanks again!
