aligning trunk lock mechanism

I just got this Spider,,,trying to figure out the trunk lock mechanism,,installed the hook part on the trunk lid,,it looks like it should be catching on the lock mechanism,but it's not engaging,,,any tricks here to get it to work ?

Does the bottom section work? Can you snap it closed with a screwdriver? If it does then it may be an alignment issue. The bottom latch mechanism has wide screw holes so you can move it around a little.

You might want to take out a tail light so you can reach in and unbolt it if you get it to shut, but then it won't open. When re-installing my latch it jammed and I couldn't get it open. Thankfully I had not yet installed my tail lights yet so I could reach in and unbolt the latch. Had I already installed the tail lights the trunk might still be locked shut, as the latch was not moving.

I would align the bottom latch all the way up and see if it works. You can check left to right alignment by almost closing the trunk lid and checking where the hook is compared to the latch.

Thanks,,i got it to work,,just needed to fiddle with it.
