Not sure where you are, but in Massachusetts most of the auto parts stores carry the fuses. In a pinch Amazon has them.

How do you know you are shorting out when you engage the starter? I'm not where I can look at my wiring diagrams, but I didn't think the starter was fused.

I'm in Washington. I guess shorting out may not be accurate, it just seemed that way because I would have instrument lights and everything when I turned the key on, but when I try to start it I hear an electrical crackle. Guessed something was shorting because I lost my instrument lights. I have no clue what I am doing ha but I think you are right the starter doesn't have a fuse. What does this mean diagnostically?

I would start by disconnecting the wire that goes to the starter from the ignition. Then move the key to start and see if the problem still happens. If it doesn't then you need to start tracing the wire from the ignition to the starter.

If it does then disconnect one of the other outputs from the ignition switch, until you find the one causing the problem. Then move down that wire disconnecting circuits until you find where it is.

A wiring diagram is essential for this.
