starter replacement

found a very old thread about this, but reposting for current responses. anyway, need to replace the starter, will be much easier without the intake manifold in place. ( also need to do the steering box lube ). question: the manifold is pretty close the brake booster - can i get the manifold off without removing the brake booster?

Ken... you won't have to worry about the brake booster in the way... once you manage to get the manifold loose and the vacuum lines and wires if there are any, it will pull right out without much hassle....

I'm not sure that's right, here's a photo showing the clearance between the manifold and booster



there's only about 10mm clearance, if that, and thats at least the thickness of the manifold base, which still has to clear the mounting studs.

i've done it on several occasions... it's tight but it does come out...
