The knob which controls the length of the delay is on the dash. The relay is on the panel which attaches under the dash next to the glove box. The contacts of the ignition switch can be traced by the attached wire colors or by their function as the key is turned to the other positions. That said you need the proper wire diagram.

This may help:
You are better to take the ten minutes and pull the switch from the column. Squeezing your head against the brake pedal is uncomfortable and freaks out your eyes when you try to focus on the back of the switch. Dont forget to disconnect the battery if you want to keep your sanity. Here's some tips on pulling the switch:

Take your time. Don't stress. I feel it from here.
Cheers, Ari

Thanks, great idea on the dropping the column. So are you saying the two speed switch for the wiper is the intermittent two? Or is it the other dimmer?

Around '77 it was moved to the tray under the glovebox.

Re: Windshield wiper Intermittent operation cycling switch uni
When this past few days when I had time I have been messing around with the wiring on this 71, I have decided to get it,just got to get the price lower, I had already made a offer to him so I can't go lower then my offer, he told me 2000.but we can meet in the middle of 1500/2000. I believe it way worth the price ( don't faint )wether I keep it or pass it on
I have learned a lot just by reading the forum , yesterday was a slow day at work so I was messing with the wires for the wipers, no matter what I did the wipers worked with the ignition off, I kept looking at the wire diagram and trying differnt ways in connecting, we'll never did help
But reading way back in the forumn I ran across this post that Vander wrote, stating that the 71 or earlier cars ,that the wipers and some other things work with out the ignition on, what a relief to find that post . Now I can move on and get it together
I changed all the dash bulbs, I am just waiting for the dist cap and and speedo cable, then I can put it together, I know the brake lites and blinkers never worked, but I won't mess with them untill all the dash gauges are in, I am pretty positive the blinkers will work being the flasher works now, brake lights may just need a good cleaning,
This car is totally rust free, one dent in the hood, I am 50 percent sure I won't be keeping it, I have no room, but time will tell
With out this forumn and all you guy/gals and the knowledge you all have, I really think we would all be lost
Thanks

You can't change the time delay, only how fast the wipers run with the round knob in the center of the dash.

I did this set up and it did not have juice to the coli, so there was no spark, so i just swap terminals for the hell of it and i have juice BUT the lite under the tach stays on,. i will have to redo somethingAriK wrote:This may help:

That problem is narrowed down to the pink wire. What position did you switch it to?

Down one from what you see in the photo, I got the steering wheel dropped again so I will do some checking, it might have been on the wrong terminal from the first time I put themAriK wrote:That problem is narrowed down to the pink wire. What position did you switch it to?
