Hi,
My father and I recently fell into the world of fiat 124 when looking for my first car and purchased a '77 a daily driver for me and a '79 a project car for spare time. My dad found this site and got some very nice info so here i am just looking for tips on what to do with this car and how to improve it.

Hi there. Lucky down there in being able to drive pretty much year round eh...
Improve the car..... no end of things, however like you have heard before don't start if you can't stop... make sure the brakes are in good shape. These cars are not neck snapping fast but do handle really well for the vintage so perhaps go over the steering components, tie rod ends, ball joints ect. How are the shocks? Tired? the KYB's are popular or if you have deeper pockets the Koni yellows are terrific on these cars. (one inch front sway bar helps as well)
Ok the car is going straight and stopping straight now... perhaps you want a bit more power from the engine.... a carb upgrade would work nicely. Not sure what exhaust you have. There are 4 into one and 4 -2-1 exhaust manifolds. If you have the first, have a snoop around if you can source the 4-2-1 and with the carb upgrade to a 34 adf or 32/36 you will see an improvement in power.
Hopefully the tranny is good and the clutch is not really an issue if it is tired.
Have fun, easy car to work on with plenty of parts and help available.

Hi,
There is an active club in Texas, we stay in touch via an email list. Most of the membership is in Houston, but there are many members in the Austin/San Antonio area as well. Email me for info if you are interested in joining the email list.

We have weekend drives in the Hill Country in the fall and larger meet in the Spring where usually 30-40 Fiats show up.

Welcome!
