Greetings from Finland

Post by nalle »

Nice to join your "team".
We have only few Spiders in Finland (29 was running in the end of May, but total is appr. 50pc).
In the matter of fact there are no original Finn- Spiders all are re-import.
I bought my Spider 2000 /1982 (75000mls) from Netherlands this summer it is in perfect condition, no show car but otherwise fine. I have also document for whole history of the car.
My car is from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the 90's is was shipped to Netherlands on 2014 to Finland.

Spider just started her wintersleep (just like bears) and She will wakeup in April/May.
She has never seen winter (maybe from garage door but not with her own tires).

Any way nice to meet you all, it's quite obvious that I'll need your help in the (near) future

Good morning...here anyway, and welcome.
Good find in sourcing a spider in good shape.
I know what you mean in putting the car in hibernation. Helsinki I think is around the same latitude as our BC/ Yukon boarder...it's getting cold up there. My insurance for the road expires Nov. 1st

nalle, your car looks great.
There were many great looking cars there also.
Some really neat models that I have never seen before.
Location looks superb also.
Thanks for sharing the pics.

Interesting that it was imported from Harrisburg, Pa. Harrisburg is not noted to be a Fiat hotbed.

It was a young couple who owned this car.
Young because at the moment they are appr. 66 years old, (if I found the right persons in the net).
They are not living anymore there.
I was going to write them, but it seems that it's impossible to find their email.
And maybe they are not so intrested of the car history/story as I'm.

I Yes we really do love cars here in Finland (also motosport RAlly and F1).
But old car lovers, I think that there are two main reason why we do love old cars.
1. Car tax (for new car is really high in finland and also all other taxes are high here)
2. Old cars are better looking than new cars as we all know
2b. we have long winter time, when we have alot of time to use in the carage

There are in Swiss alps nice roads and also in Norway (check Trollstigen in google). Finland is quite flat but we have some nice roads between the lakes ( and lakes we do have).
