Termal Fan Switch
I have been looking into why my rad fan is not working. Changed some fuses and now the lights and horn work. I have hopefully spotted the problem. The wires that go to the thermal switch were not attacked. There is a yellow wire and a black and yellow wire. Can someone tell me which goes on which terminal? Does it matter?

does not matter
also I think the fan and horn share a fuse ... so it is good you got that part of the equation

Re: Termal Fan Switch
Thank you for letting me know Matt.
I just plugged both wirers into the thermal switch and waited until the temp gage passed 190. The fan did not come on. Switched the wires to other terminal and still no fan. Next step is to check the fan. Do I need to remove it to test it. Is there a relay swich which might not be working? Is there a process of elimination I can go through to find the problem? I may just need another thermal switch. But if it is something else or a combination of faulty parts then I wwwould preffer to buy everthing at once. Suggestions.

Re: Termal Fan Switch
To check the fan, simply disconnect the 2 wires from the radiator temp switch, and short the 2 wires together. If the fan comes on, the radiator temp switch is bad.

Re: Termal Fan Switch
Glenn, you can bypass the temp switch in the bottom of the radiator by connecting the 2 wires that go to it together. This turns the switch on and the fan should work regardless of the temp. If the fan doesnt go on, then tape the wires together and look for the problem somewhere else. You can test the fan by un-plugging it from the car and put 12v across the 2 leads.

Yes I just connected the two wires that go to the thermal fan switch using a double male/female connector. Yeah fan works.I wiill replace the thermal fan switch on my next parts order. Now I get the car saftied.
