After getting my car back from painting, the right headlight is dim on low, nearly dark on hi.
The headlights and signals were masked, the side marker light was removed, but bulb was kept in place. No wiring changed or removed for painting.
Left works fine. If you swap the headlight bulbs, its still dim on the same right side - not the bulb.
Three wires coming out of that right headlight, two to a connector, one to ground.
Disconnected the connector, and my meter (which I tested on the main battery) reads NO VOLTS on both sides of the connector, with the black probe connected to ground. Also reads zero with black probe in one side, red in the other, and reversed. All combinations are no volts.
I don't know how it can be dim with no volts (as opposed to dark), unless its cross connected to some other power line.
The side marker is lit and strong, as is the turn signal light.
Fuses look good.
Any help would be most appreciated!
79 right headlight dim
Re: 79 right headlight dim
Please disregard. I don't know how I was getting no volts.
But the problem was a poor ground. The entire ground turret is corroded, and needs to be cleaned up.
Sorry for the distraction. Will leave post up in case someone else has the same issue and is too dim to double check the ground.
