Yes I am Mark,

While the dash face is fixed, the top is removable. So access is relatively good.

I decided if the amp in the dash didn't work it would be a miserable job later so I took it all out

and routed constant power, switched power and front speaker wires to the rear package shelf. Better in the end, I'm sure!
You'll feel better about it for sure.....

.... mine's probably going under the rear shelf, possibly under a small hatch if I think about it right, or perhaps behind the back between the speakers. 12v USB quad port behind the front console (which I'm replacing with a coupe one, and used the air vents for a couple of extra gauges as a man can't have too many... A/F mixture gauge wired to a dash mounted toggle on/off so that I'm not driven insane by the A/F mix with my carb'd car!)

Im betting he's got you there Andy!

Maybe you should go for something completely redundant like the "excitement meter gauge"
Get one of those and you can leave the switch on all the time!!

I THINK... I have everything hooked up right...
With any luck I will be able to post some video of "start up day" before the end of the weekend.
Wish me luck, cross your fingers!!!

Obviously, my "start up" video will begin with the filming of BOTH my fire extinguishers!!

and hopefully end with them both in the same place they are now!!!

Go ahead Andy, make another comment! I'm looking for my bitch slap button already!! :D

getting ready to do initial start on a 3 year scout II project .... it is very exciting and nerve racking at the same time .... I have crawled under over and in every corner of that truck three times at least .... I wake up at night thinking of something ..get dressed go out with a flashlight and look at the reason for my nightmare only to find everything is fine

hoping that if something is wrong it will only squirt or drip some type of fluid and be fixed by tightening a bolt or something ... praying for no sparks or smoke or big sledgehammer noises

fingers crossed for you big time

Oh so close...
Exhaust back off with the last bits welded on

Image

I hooked up the starter and alternator, installed the clutch cable, filled the differential, installed the exhaust and started with fluids. I filled the oil cooler first

Image

Then the filter, and then the rest.

Still lots to do tomorrow but maybe, just maybe I'll hear it run.
