Hi All!
I'm new here, I got one a few months ago, and got another today to salvage parts off of to help rebuild the other.
Anyway, I've had very aggravating issues with ordering the right carb gasket kit for it. I finally got the right one, but it does not come with the diaphragm for what I think is called the Idle Speed Assembly. I need a new one, the old one was totally rotten. I might be able to use the one from the salvage spider I just got if I'm lucky, havn't checked yet, but I'd prefer a new diaphragm.
Anyone else run into this problem? And how or where did you get a new diaphram for it or otherwise resolve it?
Auto parts stores I've been to can't seem to locate one. I was lucky I got the right gasket kit after some majorly big headaches. I wanted to slap them and their computer system back to the 70s.
BTW, its a 1972 sport spider 1600.
Once I get it running well and fixed up, I think it ought to look sharper than most of them I've seen. Its going to take a bit of work tho, and so far its been more frustrating then expected.
Thanks for any help or advice!

The 72 came with the DHSA 28/36 carb and parts are becoming hard to get. It's possible yours has been changed to a different carb so check the carb body for the number. I got my IDF rebuild kit from Pierce Manifold and it included the diaphragms. I'd call them to see what their kit includes.

Thanks for the responses.
Yeah, the engine and carb could of been replaced, who knows?
Anyway, I've got the part named wrong, I looked it up on the carb kit disassembly instructions. Its called the Speed Up Control Assembly's diaphragm. Its apears to be a Weber Model 32ADFA carburetor. Here is a picture of the the carb with the Speed Up Control Assembly faceing the camera:

I need the diaphragm that goes in that thing.
Happen to have a contact number or website handy for the Pierce Manifold gasket kits?
Thanks much! And heres the spider I'm hoping to get fixed up:

Looks newly painted except for lower rocker panels. Very shiny. Did you do it yourself?
Re: Carburetor Diaphragm (Speed Up Control Assy)?
I got it that way. It is a nice paint job I think too, but some of puddy is cracking in a few spots. Thanks for checking it out.

I got a hold of Pierce Manifold (800-874-3728) and they seem to know what I'm talking about and are going to see if they can track one down.
The salvage car's carb had a bad diaphragm too for the Idle Speed Assembly. Same carburetor which I was able to steel a few other parts off of it. I've got a rebuilt carburetor now except the Idle Speed Assembly I'm just waiting on. Think they'd be a standard replacement part that would be needed as often if not more then the rest of the parts. What am I going to do in another 30 years when the next one goes bad? Get a new engine?
I think the salvage car had a custom exaust header on it, might be useable too

Re: Carburetor Diaphragm (Speed Up Control Assy)?
why would you need a new engine if a carb part wore out?. Most everyone just gets a replacement carb that doesn't use that diaphragm
Re: Carburetor Diaphragm (Speed Up Control Assy)?
Was joking about replacing with a whole engine, anyway, I finally got the diaphram back from Pierce Manifold. Steve was a nice knowledgable fellow there who helped me out. They did it fast, took me a while to get it sent out though, and they had to use a difrent one and do some welding etc. to make sure it matched. It seems they just don't make these any more, and nothing but confusion with everyone else I talked to about it. I went with Pierce Manifold and they knew what do, I recomend them too now for anyone else who may need the same part or anything else. Not bad price either for it. Just got to get it back to geteher this weekend and see how she runs now.

It's good to hear you'll be up and running and I'm glad Pierce Manifold was able to help you.
