Winter sucks
I know that those of us who live in the Communist Republic of Califgomorrah have shorter winters than most other states, but I really dislike winter. It was 27 degrees this morning and I just want to go for a nice warm summer drive with the top down. Maybe I need to move to Hawaii or SoCal.

Re: Winter sucks
This is why you too need a 124 sport coupe.
I had to get outta the house today as the wifes day care kids were making me nuts
.
Once I was done with the relay install mod, I decided a "test drive" was needed.
Headed out Latrobe Rd for El Dorado and just kept turning in directions I hadn't been before.. It was a great way to get out and waste several hours.
And they heater in the coupe just about ran me out of the car.

Re: Winter sucks
Winter always sucks, I have been stuck in Kansas for 25 years, had to drive a couple of days ago when it was 6 deg. without a heater fan. But it will get better soon for me. I took my family on vacation this last summer to New Mexico (where I am from) and my wife loved it so much she gave me the go ahead to figure out how to move there. We should be able to do it in a couple of years if we cash out her trust fund from work. In the meantime I have to endure this weather which is forcasted to lay down a 1/4" of ice overnight and snow on Saturday, yeah!

Minus 10 in beautiful sunny Nova Scotia right now. If it wasn't for the salt they put on the roads I would have been out today. I went out in minus 5 once with the top down (it was after rain the day before, so they didn't have time to put salt down) I was approached by two gentlemen in the parking lot who thought I was completely nuts. Not nuts, just bloody freezing I replied...
My two cents ain't worth what it used to be

Re: Winter sucks
I picked up my son's first Fiat Spider today (a red 77 purchased from a friend). I got to drive top down on the way home. Yeah!
People looked at me as if I was nuts - that's fine with me because I had a blast!

Re: Winter sucks
I went on a 100 mile drive this morning with the top and windows all down. Very cold for So Cal (I'd say 40ish) - I put on my driving gloves , warm jacket, scarf and hat, but my ears still got cold. I like driving PCH - it was actually a good 10 degrees warmer at the beach than in the valleys. Beautiful at the coast, the ocean was very calm and flat, almost no surf (like a lake). While I was leaving the beach a full van from the TV show "Biggest Loser" was pulling in - likely this season's latest crop there for a workout. We had some heavy rain about two weeks back and PCH was still closed at the Ventura county line due to rock/mud slide clean up. I actually had some ice while driving in the mountains on the way back (Mollhulland and Decker Canyon both has patches of ice in some shaded areas.)
I read a tip here I used today because it was so cold : You know you're a FIAT owner when you take the ashtray out as an extra heating device.
Happy new year all.
Peace.

Anyhow, my laugh was short-lived bcs i realized while others are taking 100 mile trips, up here in Siberia-land my car hasn't seen the light of day since early October.

Damn it.. I hadnt heard that one, and I could have used it yesterday when I took mine (finally) on a 100 mile trip to a friends place on the other side of town (Maricopa to Glendale.. Damn it, Phoenix is huge!).. Noted for the future.

[quote="spidernut"]It was 27 degrees this morning and I just want to go for a nice warm summer drive with the top down.
Now if that was Celsius and not F I'd have a bit of envy.
Currently this morning I have spent an hour with a snow blower moving about 10 inches of snow from my driveway and 2 hours plowing snow from areas around the shop with my fork lift and plow blade. Still snowing and in typical Okanagan fashion after 16 inches of snow, rain is forecasted tonight and above freezing temps the rest of the week.
In for a mess....
Car(s) are all tucked away though...

This is how Canucks roll:

Made it to Dec. 01st as the last drive of the year. Lost about a week in November because of unusual cold, but then it was better.
Today is January 06th. One month and nearly a week crossed off the calendar. It was made more bearable by a "Christmas package" from Auto Ricambi that my kids pulled out from under the tree. (Yes, sometimes I order things for myself and put Santa's name on it.)
Hopefully only about three more months to go! (Yes, I can do it... breathe... breathe...)
Cheers,

Re: Winter sucks
Big LOL for your cold weather top down garb.
Reminds me of a couple years ago, I was in the Spider driving to an RC warbird race in Morgan Hill on a cold foggy late spring morning.
I'm cruising south on 101 with the top up and the heater on full all nice and toasty, just enjoying the trip.
All of a sudden i notice another smaller convertible has merged onto 101 with me, it is a smaller British late 60s ish type I think some model of the TR designation.
On this miserable cold foggy morning the Brit driver has the top down, and is dressed as though he is a WW1 era SE-5 a
pilot!
He had the heavy leather jacket with the wooly collar, heavy cloth scarf, and aviators goggles over a full leather helmet.
It looked comical and cool all at the same time. I found myself laughing at him with a small amount of envy.
I bet he was making vickers 303 machine gun sounds as I passed him.
