Newbie in colo
Got bit by the Fiat bug. Got a 79 spider but won't pass visual emissions test, it's missing some emissions components,What to do. Actually runs pretty good.

Post an ad in the Wanted section for the part that you are missing.
I am surprised a '79 still has to pass emissions! Here anything over 25 years old is exempt.

Where are you located? You must not be too far away from me since your in an area of CO that needs emissions testing. I'm located near Erie CO.
I recently resurrected a '76 and got it through CO emissions testing--I might be able to give you a hand and some advice if you are interested in my help.
I'll tell you a secret: in my car none of the emissions stuff actually functions--but it's there physically so the inspectors are happy. My air pump spins, but that's about all it does. With a properly tuned engine I can pass Colorado emissions.
You'll need to find an air pump and a belt. These things should be very cheap because many owners remove them because they aren't required in many areas. You probably also need the pipe thing that injects the air into the exhaust and the hoses that connect the pump to the pipe. You should be able to find the whole 'kit' here and pay little more than shipping. Like Csaba says: post an ad--someone will be glad to unload their emissions stuff.
