hello from the UK

Post by whiteonyx »

Hello fellow Spider owners, just joined the site as i have been an avid fan of the Fiat Spider.
Just bought an 81 spider and currently converting to UK spec and slowly getting ready for road use.
This is my forth 124 Spider, my last one was sold to BBC's"Top Gear" programme, which has been filmed and will be broadcasted in January 2015.
Are there many UK spider owners on the forum, maybe one day organise a spider meet somewhere in the UK?
regards all

they spent quite a lot of cash changing it into an Abarth replica, painted the bonnet, new wheels and tyres, new seats, removed bumpers, etc.
Looking forward to seeing it again in the studio and asking for the old parts back maybe.

Hopefully they don't plan on launching it off a cliff onto an unsuspecting "caravan" in the valley below... :(

they did the usual format, get 3 cars, laugh at each others purchases, then drove round the country buying silly items and then carry them around.
Afterwards they ended up at a track and did a few laps!
The show will be broadcasted sometime in jan or fed 2015

I do hope Jeremy's kind to your old Spider.
Back in May '95 I was driving back from the Monaco GP in my Spider and he pulled up at the fuel pump next to mine at a service station somewhere in France.
He was in a TVR and being very loud to the crew that were waiting for him to refuel.
I'm looking forward to the show but think I'll be watching it with my fingers over my eyes :-)
Andy...

on the Top Gear website, there is an intro clip of series 22 with the 3 cars. The theme is classic cars to get now before they go into silly money territory.
If you are reading this Top Gear,i hope my tickets to the show come through the post soooon!!!

Looking forward to the Top Gear episode. It's the only one I'm looking out for and should be in a couple of weeks now - unless you know exact episode no.? Just hoping the Clarkson isn't going to trash it. Looks like it's coming up against an MG and a Peugeot so should be no contest.

I'm watching a Top Gear episode right now where these dudes are trekking a Lotus,a Porsche and a Mustang through deserts, beaches, offroading through mud, boulder-ridden foot paths as well as slipping and sliding through glaciers in some off-beaten paths in South America. Need to replace a broken tie-rod? Just fabricate a fix. Need to cross a shallow river, just call the local farmer to tow you with his backhoe. How these guys aren't killing each other is beyond me.
I don't want to see your Fiat being abused in the same manner as these old-timers are subjected to. Hopefully you signed a contract which garantees no Fiats will be harmed in this episode.

Wouldn't you think that they keep their only mode of transportation, (which is also their lifeline) OFF that rickety footbridge while they macgyver a ramp?

You should watch the one that was shown around Christmas 2014 from Argentina. They had to leave in "a hurry" with angry local mobs chasing them.
