Just saying hi!

Post by Jerosmith »

Hey guys, Name's Jeremy. You'll probably be seeing me a lot around here as I'm completely obsessed with my new ride... First time I've ever owned something that wasn't a complete junker and picked myself up a

1978 1800 Fiat Spider.

Can you guys tell me any basic info about this specific car to get me started at all? I'm already in the process of making stainless steel custom exhaust manifold headers, the flange is being made now by a machinist friend... Anyone care to add what my primary size should be for the equal length tubes? how about the last bit? Hahaha. I'm not very technical when it comes to mechanics...

Um, Also, if anyone can shine some light on whats good and bad about my specific year and displacement size of my car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys!

Cheers!

Oh, also, I'm a huge watcher of top gear and did you know...

THE NEXT EPISODE WAS GONNA HAVE JEREMY CLARKSON DRIVING A SPIDER!???!?!!

Unreal... I can't believe it... I'd kill to see him driving my car, I'm sure he wouldn't get as much pleasure out of driving it as I do, but I sure would like to hear what the pillock has to say about it. hahaha

Welcome to the forum Jeremy. You're embarking on a fun experience with this car. It's also a year where you can employ different carburation mods. While i cannot give you any input on your headers, there are others who can chime in good advice.
I believe you made a typo concerning Clarkson driving your car. I presume you'll kill him as you watch him drive your car.

I don't know if you've heard or not, but that episode may never be aired because clarkson punched a producer in the face and it's suspended, and from what clarkson has said about it, it seems like it's permanent. So, we may never see him drive the spider... It was seriously supposed to be the next episode.... I'm pissed. "I'd kill to see him driving it. "

Thanks RRoller! I'm actually on my way to Boston, MA right now. I can see that you're in the state in your information.

I do have another question, if you could answer that would be awesome.

If I were to create a thread (like this one) or if someone were to reply to a thread I've commented or replied to, is there any way I can be notified by email? I have suspicion that I just wont be quick to respond after the first couple days use... I tried looking thru account settings, but there's nothing I see for notifications by email.

Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of that feature, but there is a button below under "options" (that I have never used) that says: "notify me when a reply is posted". I bet that does it?

the 1800 in the cars name refers to the engine size. A great deal of parts are interchangeable through the different years. This forum is a large group of do-it-yourselfers with lots of hands on advice. We are lucky that it is easy to source parts and they won't break the bank.

Lol, Thanks man. Although I lack knowledge in mechanics compared to a mechanic, I do know enough to know that the 1800 refers to the engine size, even tho it's a bit of a stretch because the engine size is actually 1756 I believe. hahaha.

Thanks about the other info about my car being very interchangeable, and lots of advice and information being on the board. I had noticed that after sifting thru the endless posts here. I guess we're a great bunch of people wanting to help other fiat enthusiasts. I like that. That is beautiful.

Thanks man, you should send me some pictures of your ride you got there... It looks pretty damn sweet. or you can add me to facebook if you'd like. Jeremy Gregory Raymond Brisebois is my actual full name. Cheers!
