Pink wire to positive coil burned
During my restoration, I noticed the pink wire going to the positive side of coil burned through the covering of wire. This is all the way back to the point of junction split close to the ignition. The pink junction split going to ignition looks good. So, I decided to replace the pink wire from this split to the coil. I can't see the whole pink wire wrapped in the black bundle, but I'm hoping nothing again splits off this pink wire going to coil I cut and eliminated, using a new wire. Anyone know?

It splits to idiot lights and fuse box.

Re: Pink wire to positive coil burned
To understand this. The pink wire has a pink wire to ignition by itself which has a split that goes to idiot lights, fuse box and coil? Or does the pink wire come from fuse box, go to ignition and idiot lights and the split from the pink wire I see near ignition split and go to coil itself?

The split is at connector C31. One pink wire leads to the fusebox and 2 red warning lights, and the other pink powers the coil when the ignition is on. I hope you narrowed down why that wire melted.

Re: Pink wire to positive coil burned
Terminal 15/54 of ignition switch is switched power out of the ignition switch in the "start and Run" positions of the switch. It supplies voltage to the coil pink wire and power to fuse A . Fuse A protects the circuits for gauges, indicator lights and seat belt warning.
Hope this helps. If the Pink wire to the coil was the only melted wire I would suspect it somehow shorted to ground near the coils connection. Have you looked at the short section of the pikp wire from the ignition switch to the connector C31 about 6 inches behind the switch?

Re: Pink wire to positive coil burned
That diagram helps tremendously, as does your clarification. The pink wire from coil to split at C31 was the only melted wire. The pink wire from ignition switch on down past C31 was good as new. So, it was at the C31 split I soldered a new wire to power coil. This makes me feel better. I thought I was going to have to open a bundle of wrapped wires.
I bought this car last fall at an auction non-running and this is one of the issues I found. I have had the car running for a couple of five minute runs before tearing all apart. Hopefully whatever short issue it had is now gone. We'll see soon. I'm ready to fire it back up in a week.
Thank you for all who responded and clarified the wiring.
