Ignition switch stuck in '79

Thanks Azruss, i can get about 1/3 way down the thing that the screwdriver presses upon. But that's it. In some pics it looks like it has a step. I presume the Steering wheel lock would not be blocking anything as the switch is "on".
I'll let you know how it ends up

gave up and bought one of these

so now need a new lock/switch.
Any recommendations on a source?

oh yeah,
Tip for anyone else - the lock will NOT remove UNLESS the key is pointing to the stamped arrow on the lock cover. The retaining piece does not retract far enough if the key is in any other positon

I got a Lada ignition switch from Auto Ricambi, was a plug in replacement and has worked great so far.

ditto on the plug and play with the AR switch. I soldered the wires to the connectors. need to be careful that the plastic doesn't melt and mess around the the internal connections.
