I just can't get a break!!..filled up the car today and had gas dripping everywhere...I am dumbfounded on how to change out this hose...am I suppose to remove the rear lower quarter panel section to access this hose clamp?...if this is the case, then it looks like a long process and being a contortionist just to remove the hose...this is why I have been smelling fuel after about 15 minutes of driving and would also explain why I only got 23 miles to the gallon
Does anyone know if this hose is formed or straight and what size it is and do I need to special order this hose?...I don't want to tear it apart unless I have the parts needed for repair, otherwise I will not be able to drive anywhere for parts and don't want my car sitting around cuz I tore it apart...any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Re: Fuel filler neck leak?
It's a formed hose that Vick's should have. IAP didn't have one when mine went out so I spent a lot of time under GMC trucks looking for a filler hose the same diameter with the same bend. I found one for an outrageous $53 and cut it to fit. I didn't know about Vick's at the time. You should be able to remove the hose from under the vehicle without taking the lower quarter panel off unless it's completely different from a 72 (which is not as desirable but a damn sight easier to work on. ) I lubed the metal part of the filler before trying to put the new hose on with vasoline to help it go on better.

Sorry, I don't remember. It was so long ago. I'd try Vick's or another Fiat vendor.

Re: Fuel filler neck leak?
Its a lot easier to replace the hose with the lower panel removed. Early cars have only three screws and a nut to remove; don't know about yours. Then there's a hoop around the hose to protect it from road debris; two more fasteners. Don't completely destroy your hose, as the one you get from our vendors must be trimmed to fit. I doubt an aftermarket hose would match the metric Fiat OEM. Don't forget two new hose clamps; you don't want to redo this anytime soon!
