Its official.....I'm a Fiat junky

Post by JeremyB »

I put a deposit on, and am picking up on monday, my 79 Fiat 128 sedan! Cool, fun little car. Its a little Italian hooigan car. Bone stock except for a tape deck, and dash mounted tach. It has under 50Kmiles, and very little rust. No rust in the vital areas. Will have to replace the sheet metal covering the rear shocks in the trunk eventually.
I will post pics when I get it.
It needs nothing right now. Its 100% ready to drive. I plan on (in the future) replacing the stock wheels, lowering, and repaint.

IS that in reference to owning a 128, or more than 1 Fiat? The firsat time I drove the 128, I was gentle with it. I was then advised by a 128 owner, to rev the nuts off of it on the next drive. I did and WOW! It went from a kinda fun akward neat littel car, to an ass kicking little monster. I think Im gonna REALLY like this little car. 1.3 motor with a 4 speed is a fun combo!

The 128 is a blast; my first new car in '72. The instigator of a Blue Ridge ride a few weeks ago has one, and its a screamer. Here are some of us at a catch-up spot near "the bunker" aka Mt. Weather, VA. My 128 was the same paint as Carl's blue one, although he painted his with brush and roller, it seems.

No so uncommon, but that blue stuff above it means we're well out of town. (Gal with bronze Spider) I forgot her name just got the car the previous week. This was her first outing.

The more I learn about the 128, the more I want it NOW. I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow after work. Unfortunately, it will stay stock for the time being. But, down the road, Im planning on doing soem cool stuff with it. I do like that blue on it.
I like the spilt front bumper, with the little cross over bar to mount rally lights on.
For teh time being, Im not sure abotu which color for the repaint, but I think Id like to put the M1 stripes on it, lower it a bit, cool swheels. Kind of a rally look, but not full rally. If I went with a full rally set up, I'm afraid that I'd end up actualyl racing it. Which I cannot afford, and have no desire to kill myself.

I picked it up yesterday. Awesome little car! Got it inspected today at a very reputable Euro repair shop. They were amazed at teh condition of it. He verified that it is actual mileage. Flew through inspection, no probs.
I spent a few hours yesterday and today doing a few thing swith it. New air filter, oil change, new fuel filter (got a slight orange color when dumper the old filter, guess I will have to clean out the tank).
Very unique car. I've never seen a car with the rear suspension set up. a leaf spring turned upside down, going from wheel to wheel? Very odd.
Here are some pics of it I took today. It needs a good bath, so its not that shiny at the moment.

I am having trouble getting pics, or links to work. Any advice?

Hope the links work.
