2000 fi motor hunting

Hi I have a fiat 2000 fi 1981, the motor hunts between 2000 and 4000 RPM with out changing the gas pedal position.Please help, from Vancouver. Steffen

three things come to mind. first is an air leak. a crack in the rubber plenum. go over the air intake closely. next is the idle stop screw is set too high. next check the AFM and see if the door is stuck open.

Thank you for getting back, I have unplugged the AFM and found that the motor is not hunting anymore, and I can keep it on a constant 3000 RPM , so maybe the door is stuck. Steffen
