HI
Trying to diagnose problem I am having (80 Fiat Spider F/I) at 2000 rpm car boggs out and creates popping noise through exhaust. This happens when up to normal engine temp. slow acceleration through gears no problem below 2000 rpm but once I hit 2000 it starts stalling out. I can accelerate to floor to overcome but makes for erratic driving. So I'm either driving slow or as fast as the car will go.
Any suggestions on where to look, I cannot seem to find a problem the pick up is new and the vacumn advance seems to be operating normally.
Help???

Hi Kent, Two things to check for first in the FI system are all air hoses and connections, and the AFM flap. The most common problem causing poor performance is usually an air leak because the ECU ends up getting false readings and reacting accordingly. The 2nd part, AFM flap needs to move freely through it's whole range of motion and a sooty residue has a tendency to build up in it's plenum. Best thing to do is take it off and clean it out real well.
If you don't have it yet, Brad Artigue's FI booklet included in his "Fiat 124 Spider Engine Maintenance & Modification" is a real good resource to have. Find it here: http://www.artigue.com/fiat.php
Good luck,
Ron

Ron is right. I think takin a look at the coolant sensor and the throttle position switch would be good also.

Tappy, I just had to replace an accelerator pump diaphragm on my 72. It was getting hard to start and then it developed a fuel leak. It would start popping through the carb since it was starving for fuel and the plugs were black since I was trying to compensate and ended up flooding it.

Hey Denise , i 've experienced the same so replacing the diafagm would be in order. Only thing is i dont know wich i need
When i look @ artigues sheets (the ones on miafiori ) it looks like i'll need the 47407.207
http://www.artigue.com/fiat/Carbs/IDF/weber_idf.pdf
but on the redline site they say the 47407.207 is for the newer models , the 47407.027 for the older models
http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/product_p/47407.027.htm
