Jumped Hazard switch, but now no start on 82 2000

A while back i jumped the hazard switch so the turn signals would work. It worked great. Now, when I turn the key on, the only light illuminated is battery light, no fuel gage or oil pressure light, no fuel pump, and car will not start. if I push in hazard switch all comes back to life and car starts, but I am not going to drive all day with ember flashers on. I can not figure out why car will not start, nor why there is no power to fuel pump , fuel gage, and oil pressure light without having flankers on. I have ordered a new hazard switch to try to fix all problems. Any help is appreciated.
