weber idf 70 13/15 question

Post by Tappy »

Hi folks

posted this before but probably in the wrong chapter if anyone knows , help would be apreciated

i need replacing the diafagm . Only thing is i dont know wich i need
When i look @ artigues sheets (the ones on miafiori ) it looks like i'll need the 47407.207
http://www.artigue.com/fiat/Carbs/IDF/weber_idf.pdf

but on the redline site they say the 47407.207 is for the newer models , the 47407.027 for the older models

http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/product_p/47407.027.htm
http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/product_p/47407.207.htm

i guess i have the older style idf's , they are 40idf 70 13/15

so who is right ? since you've done this lately maybe you know wich ones to order ?

i've also found this guy on ebay willing to send them over to Belgium , i've contacted redline also but they dont answer my e-mails

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0256016483

any advice welcome

Hi Tappy,

I ordered this set for my 13/15 ones: http://cgi.ebay.de/40-IDF-Weber-Vergase ... dZViewItem - it works perfect - and they ship to Belgium.

The stuff on my site is for the old carbs.

Your carb # is on the carb base by the air corrector screw. It will say 40IDF 13 on one and 15 on the other. If you have the newer ones it will say "70" or "XE" or something like that. Chances are if your carb says "MADE IN ITALY" anywhere on it and has the PCV pipes they are 13/15.

Tappy, like Brad says, it should be stamped on your carbs as to which kind you have but another way to know is on the older 13/15's the arm that actuates the pump does not have a way to adjust it. You will need the diaphragm with the little plastic button on it. The 70 series pump actuator arm can be adjusted and these take the diaphragm with just the metal protrusion.

Addition: there is a big and important difference in accel pump diaphragms:
the original old ones back in the 70ies were red, but this material is not capable handling the modern (more agressive) fuels of today, they will rot in a short timeframe. Get the new style black one (which ist sold in most of the kits you find).

Chances are if your carb says "MADE IN ITALY" anywhere on it and has the PCV pipes they are 13/15.

They were made in Italy in the later series as well so thats not the best land mark to look for if you have the
inlets raised above the Carb Bodys a type of velocity stack molded with the casting its a early IDF later
doesnt have that .

this is a later IDF made in Italy
