Thank-you for inviting me in.
I will be needing help as I get my toy performing to my liking.
I just purchased my little black and silver spider.
She is a shinny little car with out any rust or dents, has a good interior, a nice clean soft top, but without a boot.
The usual electrical issues are present I am still sorting them out.
I started with out any lights at all but the car ran - and now I have every thing except the RF turn signal which only has 1.5 Volt. Also the wiper fuser blows so I probably need to lubricate the mechanism.
I have found 3 or 4 loose hoses causing vacuum leaks, but the main issue is the exhaust cam tower leaks oil at the head seal ... :( Lots of oil.
SO I checked the bolts ... must be more than 65# torque... I have not taken them off yet just checking.
I am looking at what it will take to get down to that gasket .. making a parts list and checking it twice.
Will I have to have the cam tower machined flat on the bottom since it is over tightened so much, do I need new bolts?
It looks like a new timing belt will be required to get down that far, will I need any thing to adjust valves? I see some valve pucks on-line Questions Questions Questions
These motors are completely different than anything I have done before.
My dad was a motor machinist so I helped him a few times (actually he was helping me) and never had any problem tearing into motors.

you will need to check the flatness of the cam tower mating surface. That will determine whether you need to machine it. I would look at the condition of the treads on the bolts to determine if they need replacing. You will need a special wrench for removing the wafers and adjusting the gap. AR carries them.
