1975 on the title
Starts, runs, drives as is. That's a plus, right?
Needs lots of attention in nearly every aspect. Body seems pretty solid, with just a few small rust bubbles visible. I check it out pretty good for rust, and I think this will be workable. Included a new canvas top. All the glass is good. Gauges are all very clean and work. Doors are hard to open. The latches work well, but the interior handles feel sticky and take some effort.
It seems to have many of the typical issues I've been reading about (I know NOTHING about these cars... yet )
It pulls to the left while driving. Pulls while braking too. Even though it's gutless (other car is a 2013 WRX) it seems like it's running OK. It makes it up the highway hill at 65mph in 5th where my 4.0 Jeep needs 4th. So it seems to be running decent-ish. Smooth power, no hesitations or stumbles. It may be over fueling at idle. Watching the carb at idle there is a steady stream dripping onto the throttle plate - not atomized, lot's of fuel small. There is an external drip from the carb I will address before driving it anymore. Smog stuff is all coming of also.
The clutch pedal operating range is about one inch, very near the floor. The brakes are a little mushy, but stop hard.
Needs front turn signals. Wipers don't work. Heater controls don't seem to do anything. Radiator fan has not come on, but we've had really cool weather and lots of fog that seems to keep cars running cool. New tires. Some small dents and warps here and there. Electric fuel pump conversion with no oil safety switch.
So lot's of problems, but nothing I really haven't dealt with in other cars at one time or another. I'm excited. hopefully I can have it safe to drive without trouble before summer is over.

IMO, nice buy As long as the rust is not eating away from below. Sounds like you are mechanically inclined,,,,,,you will have the car driving well in no time at all.
Yes, they are not too powerful. But that makes them fun to drive,,,,working thru the gears and trying to drive them to extract as much as they can deliver. Curvy roads, top down, and 30-60 mph.......perfect conditions.

Welcome! To answer your title, that's what i told myself when my g/f said "that's the one". Only we paid a hell of alot more than that. Suck it up and knock yourself out, at 1500, if she's as solid as she looks, it's a great buy. That's about the price of a 5 rate condition car.

Same color as our 71 Coupe from 40 years ago, and I've enjoyed ALMOST every moment of working on it. Looks like it's got a good body, I think you got yourself a deal! The gas pedal travel seems too little, I'd check to see if both of the throttle plates open when the pedal is on the floor.

Steering was tight. I've had manual steering, this was too tight. I pulled up to the garage to check the idler oil and condition and as I cranked the wheel to straighten out I snapped the idler at both bolt holes Good thing I wasn't driving it home when that happened.
I've ordered
* Carb rebuild kit
* Tie rod ends
* Center Link
* Front brake rotors / lines / caliper rebuild / pads
* Coolant bottle
* Spare Fuses
* Water Pump
* Timing Belt
* Cam / Crank / Aux Seals
There was a used idler on ebay I grabbed for $60 in "Good working condition" or whatever. I'll open it up and check it out before I use it.
Carb rebuild for the accelerator pump diaphragm and because the previous owner set the idle using the cable adjustment, not the idle screw... so just need a clean start there.
I found out today that the front cross member has been welded on. The frame seems fine, but the thin crossmember metal was torn on the vertical sides. The two bottom bolts are still in place. no visible rust in the area.
I'll start new threads in the proper tech sections if I run into any problems on anything.

Still waiting for parts... I hate waiting for parts!
Tore apart the front brakes and found some sludge in the calipers and bottom of the reservoir. Not bad, it should clean out easily. I also took of the carb and found a thick layer of file silty sludge in the bottom of the float bowl, and a leaky accelerator pump. I removed the water pump, no surprises there. It was rough. The small coolent port on the rear, driver side of the head might be plugged. Ran out of time to investigate last night (The one that runs to the carb choke).
If FedEx isn't messing with me, I should be driving it this weekend!
