new carb leaking gas
Can some one please help me out here , I just installed a 32/36 DFEV weber carb on my 78 124 sypder 1800 last night , set the carb to right settings until engine ran great but for one problem gas started to leak under where the accel. pump is under the casing of the float no idea why this is happening .
Re: new carb leaking gas
did you take the carb apart for some reason? sounds like the two halves aren't sealing
what does the distributor say?

Re: new carb leaking gas
It could just need a new diaphragm. Even new parts are apt to be faulty.

Re: new carb leaking gas
I took the carb off and a little pin hole in the body under the float casing was found, did some sodering but it didn't hold, any idea on what to do to close up the pin hole thanks
Re: new carb leaking gas
if that's a brand new carb I'd see about getting it replaced. A pin hole in the casting is a flaw

Re: new carb leaking gas
I'm with Mark on the 'get them to make it right' angle.....but, if you did end up stuck with it, I've seen a number of exoxy/JB Weld type products that both 1. bond to metals & 2. are resistant to fuel. I'm sure there are more than a few carbs out there with fixes like that in them for one reason or another. I wouldn't like it, but it's better than having a Weber paper weight!
