Hallo,
I'm Jan , 55, I live in Belgium and I own a 1980 Spider 2.0 F.I., silver grey with red interior.
It was reImported from L.A. in 1990, I fell in love and bought it at first sight. It was completely rust free, but had a lot of small dents, not so nice paint, a teared up seat and an interior full of dogs hairs and 5 cent coins. After thorough cleaning, minor repairs and preventive treatment with Waxoyl in all possible places, we used this baby for almost 10 years. We even made our 1995 honeymoon trip - 3 weeks to and through Italy - in it. The only troubles I had during 10 years were a defective starter motor and a failing warning light that made me run out of fuel.... And I changed the top.
The car has stood now for 15 years (got 3 children, had daily driver convertibles, been buzzy with work and other hobbies, ...) and is now being revitalised because of ongoing demand of my growing up children.
I started work 3 months ago. Meanwhile, most technical stuff has been done (new shocks, breaks, derusting and sealing of tank, derusting the whole cooling circuit, plus replacing most wearing parts), and the car is now away for painting. Next week I should rebuild the interior - and I hope to let the car make an appearance at a wedding on july 24th. (A terrible rush and a friend to help me.)
I'll be looking meanwhile in the fora for advice on 1/ trouble with fuel injection and 2/replacing of the bumpers by the older and smaller ones.

We managed to get the restored car back on the road again just in time, evening before the wedding. The couple was very happy. I'll try to find a thread in the forum to post my story.
