Leaking spark plug hole
Leaking spark plug hole
My 77' 1800 is leaking out of the #2 spark plug hole, if I put a little oil down next to the plug, it'll bubble up. What would be the best course of action? How tight can I torque it before risking damaging the heads and NEEDING to rethread?

Re: Leaking spark plug hole
Try replacing the 'crush-washer' under the spark plug with a new one. They deform to create a gas-tight seal between head and plug.

Re: Leaking spark plug hole
1. you can buy a thread chaser that might clean up those threads enough to get a better seal
2. you can add some anti-seize to your plug threads. if the leak is not too bad, you might be able to seal it this way.

Your idea worked! And it only cost $1.Curly wrote:Try replacing the 'crush-washer' under the spark plug with a new one. They deform to create a gas-tight seal between head and plug.
