New Guy with new car

Post by 78Plum »

Just purchased a 78 Spider in pretty good shape. Very little exterior rust, runs well. Sat undriven for 5 years, but started regularly. Drove home (15 miles) with no issues. Kind of excited to get working on it to get it inspected. Probably should have gone with the Antique plates to avoid the inspection, but hindsight is always 20/20.

I'm not a highly experienced mechanic, just know how to do the basics (fluids, brakes, that kind of thing) so this will be a "learn by doing" experience for me. Glad to have a shop manual and a forum like this.

If it sat for that long you should replace the brake fluid and inspect all brake and suspension parts. Brake calipers like to get stuck when sitting causing pulling under braking.
