I was working on my engine when I noticed that there is a sensor in between the temperature sender and overheat sensor with no wire going to it. I've tried to look at pics, and in my shop manual and I can't figure out what the sensor is and if it should be hooked up to something. See image below. It looks a lot like the temp and overheat sensors, but with a square plastic shroud instead of a round one around the terminal.

That's where the pulse air plumbs from the head to the air cleaner.
It looks like someone plugged those holes with some sensors that happened to fit. Not as pretty as the oil drain plugs I used, but functional.
