Brown wire/Power Windows help

Post by scampbel98 »

Hi all,
I could use some assistance. First the background. 1980 Fiat 124
Most electrical is working fine, wipers move, headlights, radio, fan, etc. Car starts fine.
Car already has had the brown wire surgery with two (2) runs to the ignition switch..

My symptom is -> no power windows and... no power at the gigantic junction block (brown and black wire heavy gauge)
No power at the switches
Brown power at the power window relay is hot
Power window relay engages when ignition enabled
No power on black at the relay
No power on pink at the relay (which should feed the fuses and then the switches)

Schematic says power should come into that relay on black, out on pink. Black feeds from large black junction supposedly.
Based on the schematic and test light... I've lost continuity from the starter hot on the brown wire into the cabin....

Any ideas before i pull the dash and instruments?

Are you talking about the large white block located near the hood release? believe you have to have voltage getting there from the brown wire that originates at the starter solenoid because the brown wire that feeds your ignition switch also connects to that block. If you have no power conning out of that block on the black wire i would suspect the block itself.
It is another brown wire from that same large 4 pin block that supplies voltage through the ignition switch to engage the power window relay. So voltage is getting to the block and out of the block on some of the connections. If your car is FI, the FI voltage is the Brown/white wire that is a common point to the black wire for the windows. If is FI and the engine runs either someone modified the wiring or you should to redo your tests.
