New UK member 2000 injection

Post by Sid »

Hi
I've just bought a 1980 2000
It's still on California plates so first job is to sort lights etc for the MOT test then get registered in the UK
I'm based in Southampton and would love any help and advise from anyone who has gone through the registration process here in England
Cheers Sid

Dropped the car off at the garage ready for the MOT on Monday. Let's hope they don't find too much that needs fixing

Hi,
In my case 20 odd years ago,I just took all the import paperwork and proof from Fiat that the car was built in 1973, to the local Office in Brighton, filled in the form they gave me and walked out twenty minutes later with the approval and a 1973 registration number. All very simple.Have a look on the DVLA site in case the numptys have made it more complicated. :D

Thanks Chaps
Got through the MOT with no issues just needed the headlights realigned. Sent off all the documents MOT, Insurance, and U.S. Certificate of Title, onlong with the massively compacted form to the DVLA. Web site says 4-6 weeks so not like the old days. As the car is over 10 years old they don't need so much information fortunately
Thanks again for your help Sid

When I registered my Fiat a few months ago it took longer for them to send me the import pack then it did to wait for the V5.
I didn't send off any insurance docs........I did send off the sells receipt though.

Just got the registration document so about 2 1/2 weeks.
Someone in the DVLA must of been having a good day as they have given me the number 'OWT 124 V''
Looking forward to getting on the road and hopefully meeting up with any other owners in the south of England in the summer if there are any meetings I can find

That's mighty nice of them, our guys down here usually don't have a clue what an older car is and if you mention fiat you get that clueless face behind the counter
